Information, Councelling and Legal Assistance (ICLA)
Discover how NRC’s Information, Counselling and Legal Assistance programme operates in the video below. When people are forced to flee and abandon their homes, they stand to lose a range of rights. Legal and institutional frameworks often pose a challenge for people on the move, and with protracted crises on the rise, they also face the risk of being trapped in an uncertain situation for years on end. We support people in claiming and exercising their rights through information, counselling, legal assistance, capacity building and advocacy.
Economic Inclusion
78% of the world’s refugees live in a prolonged state of limbo. They are unable to return home, and many are equally unable to fully settle in their country of refuge. Growing funding gaps in humanitarian work call for innovative and sustainable approaches.
Our Economic Inclusion framework, designed to empower displaced people to achieve self-reliance, is currently being piloted in Kenya and South Sudan with vital support from our partner, the IKEA Foundation. We are documenting our learnings and impact to pave the way for further expansion of the project.
Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)
Without access to safe water for drinking, cooking, and hygiene, staying healthy becomes nearly impossible—leading to illness and disease outbreaks.
