The Scaling Solutions in Somalia Project initiated a comprehensive research and human-centered design (HCD) initiative concentrating on the experiences, livelihoods, and rural ties of women belonging to specific self-help groups (SHGs) residing in urban informal settlements in Baidoa and the newly established resettlement area of Barwaaqo. An essential element of this endeavor involved the active involvement of internally displaced persons (IDP) women in the research and program design processes.
The research comprised of multiple stages, including a scoping phase, field research , and the collaborative design of potential sustainable, market-based livelihood opportunities for IDP women using human-centered design (HCD) methodologies. This interactive report highlights the lives and resilience of IDP women who participated in the research and the co-designed pilot projects.
