In 2012, armed groups took control of Mali’s northern regions. More than a decade later, the armed conflict has spread to more regions, causing widespread displacements. More than 200,000 people have fled to neighbouring countries, and hundreds of thousands remain displaced inside Mali. The regional instability has also resulted in Mali hosting over 190,000 refugees from neighbouring countries.
