NRC Uganda has doubled its effort to ensure that refugee children have access to education in Uganda. Part of this effort includes the provision of information and guidance on the process for the equation of foreign academic documents. Equating foreign qualification involves a meticulous assessment and comparison of foreign qualifications with the corresponding qualifications in Uganda. It is an important process to ensure the recognition of prior learning, and that refugee children and youth enter the Uganda education system at the correct level. It is also key for the promotion of access to employment based on educational background and qualification. This effort is led by the Education and ICLA teams.
This guide provides guidance on the process to translate and equate foreign academic documents for refugees in Uganda. It covers primary, secondary, tertiary and university education.
