About NRC in UK
The NRC UK office has two primary functions: raising money for NRC's overseas humanitarian programmes that meet the needs of conflict-affected people and offering humanitarian policy advice to the UK government, Parliament, and peer non-governmental organisations and institutions. NRC receives financial support from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), as well as private foundations, corporations, and individual donors.
NRC UK assists the field programmes in applying for critical support. The policy and advocacy work translates the direct experiences of NRC field staff and programmes into practical recommendations as to how the UK government and Parliament can better meet the needs of people impacted by humanitarian disasters. NRC UK also employs staff with a wide range of technical expertise which support NRC programmes across the world.
NRC UK is also a resource to universities, think tanks, and the general public on humanitarian issues and seeks financial support and partnerships with UK-based individuals, foundations, and corporations.
NRC UK currently employs around 30 staff in a variety of UK-focused and global roles:
NRC UK has a team of operations, advocacy, partnerships, and foundations staff focusing on NRC's links to the UK public, private and third sector partners and stakeholders.
- NRC UK’s fundraising team develops and maintains key partnerships with donors in the UK, raising money to support NRC’s global programmes and supporting NRC staff around the world with grant and contract management
- NRC UK provides humanitarian policy advice and recommendations to UK government ministries, Parliament, and peer non-governmental organisations, based on the issues that directly affect NRC's country operations and those we work with across the world.
In addition to the UK-focused team, NRC UK also supports NRC’s global operations, providing analysis, programme development and technical expertise.
- NRC UK’s Programme Policy & Development focus on global NRC quality assurance and programme design, in thematic areas such as shelter, water and sanitation, youth education & training, and housing, land and property rights.
