2023 was another year of resilience in Cameroon.
Cameroon is currently responding to three humanitarian crises simultaneously in the Far North, Southwest, Northwest and East regions which, as of 31st December 2023, had led to the displacement of 453,661 people in the Far North region, 621,591 in Southwest and Northwest regions (NWSW), and more than 354,000 refugees from the Central African Republic (CAR). Despite it's position among the most neglected displacement crisis in the world, as of December 2023, only 31% of the Humanitatian Response Plan was funded.
The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) alongside local and international partners, overcame immense challenges to provide life saving support reaching 186,685 people across Cameroon with critical aid like legal assistance, support to livelihood, water, shelter, and education.
Grateful for the humanitarian donors' support and trust, our response showed that it is possible to scale up strategic assistance in Cameroon despite the situation. Yet, this crisis was one of 2023's most overlooked. As we release our Annual Report, we not only honour the resilience of the people of Cameroon but also pledge our continued support and call for greater international attention
